Every minute, 20 people leave everything behind to escape war, persecution, or terror. Over 70 million people worldwide are forcibly displaced – they are either refugee, internally displaced people (IDPs), asylum seekers, stateless people, or returnees. Among them are nearly 30 million refugees, over half of whom are under the age of 18.
Greece refugee statistics for 2019 was 80,468, a 30.93% increase from 2018, according to Macrotrends. As of September 13, there are 12,391 total arrivals of refugees in Greece. 8,986 sea arrivals and 3,405 land arrivals are now added to last year's approximate of 186,200 Greece refugees, according to UNHCR. With at least 35 Greece refugees known to have tested positive for COVID-19, all of these people are now left with fear of not knowing how they'll be able to face another day not having enough support and supplies to combat their daily struggles and the coronavirus.
